Orthodontics & Invisalign
Invisalign and Orthodontics
Invisalign is an amazing tool used in our office to achieve straight teeth without the need for wires, brackets, or metal.
Dr. Kerbs is certified in orthodontics with advanced training in cosmetic dentistry and occlusion. He has been working with orthodontics or braces for over 21 years and is now certified with Invisalign "clear braces" and is a preferred provider. He has a trained eye to evaluate your smile and perform the treatment needed to reach a beautiful result.
Because of Dr. Kerbs advanced training and years working with orthodontics, he brings a unique expertise to Invisalign. He is so familiar with the way teeth move and where the teeth should be ideally positioned that he is able to take on more complex cases with Invisalign. It is his knowledge and experience that allow him to directly communicate to Invsalign exactly how and where to move the teeth for the desired result.
Invisalign technology is built upon reliable, sound, scientific principles. Invisalign uses advanced laser technology to create an accurate 3D digital image of your teeth. Each 3D image is then sent to Dr. Kerbs for review and approval. It is at this stage where Dr. Kerbs’ experience and expertise comes in, he can make custom adjustments to the treatment in order to provide for the specific results that both he and the patient are looking for. Invisalign’s computer software then simulates time-lapsed tooth corrections and fabricates a series of customized aligners. These customized aligners are then delivered to Dr. Kerbs and he is able to work with these aligners to achieve the desired result for each of his patients.
Invisalign has the ability to correct a poor bite, crowding, spacing, and collapsed teeth. Invisalign can be the answer to a cosmetic problem, and it can also be the answer to a health problem. Cosmetically, Invisalign provides for a straight, full looking smile. Health wise, Invisalign provides healthier gums, improved hygiene, and decreased risk of abnormal wear and trauma.
We can either be born with crowded teeth or fairly straight teeth, either way if the teeth are not retained, teeth will crowd with age. Crowding of the teeth is usually first noticed in the lower front area and the back teeth continue to collapse toward the center of the mouth. Crowded teeth lead to more plaque collecting, which leads to infection. Collapsed teeth create an older look to the smile. A poor bite can form from both crowding and collapsing teeth. Malocclusion (poor bite) affects 74% of American adults, this can result in stress in the jaw and joints, teeth chipping, breaking, and wear, collapse of the face, and gum disease or periodontal disease.
Dr. Kerbs places a high value on the benefits Invisalign can offer his patients. We provide Invisalign to our patients during the teenage years, young adult years, and at any age above that. Our young patients benefit from Invisalign by setting up their mouth for health for the rest of their life, and our more mature patients benefit by turning back the clock and preventing further damage to their teeth and gums. At any age a beautiful smile and health is the end result.
Invisalign works by wearing a series of clear, removable aligners. Treatment length for Invisalign averages between 7 – 14 months, which is significantly shorter than traditional braces. Each set of aligners is worn for about 2 weeks, removing them only when you eat, drink, brush, and floss. Dr. Kerbs delivers 2 – 3 sets of aligners each time you see him, so you come to our office about every 4 – 6 weeks to get your new sets of aligners. Every 2 weeks your teeth will move more into alignment, so you begin to see results right away and with slow gentle dental movements every 2 weeks there is no trauma to the teeth or root structures.
Invisalign is a virtually invisible solution to straight and healthier teeth. Our patients often tell us that nobody knows they are wearing Invisalign, it is that invisible. Invisalign is comfortable to wear and doesn’t require you to change your lifestyle. Our patients love this because they are able to continue with their professional and personal lives un-interrupted. They are able to continue to eat their favorite foods, while brushing and flossing normally to keep their teeth and gums healthy. Due to the gentle dental movements there is very little force applied to the teeth, therefore there is minimal to no discomfort.
Invisalign is an easy and simple way to drastically change your smile and improve your oral health. Think about your smile, what you might change, how it might change you. It is never too late to have the smile that you deserve. We have many patients of all ages currently wearing Invisalign to achieve the smile of their dreams!
