Dr. Jeffry Kerbs, a native Californian, grew up in a missionary family. This gave him a unique opportunity to travel and live abroad, experiencing different cultures. He found out early in life that when language is a barrier a smile is a universal language. A smile can go a long way to establishing good rapport and friendship. This experience has fueled his passion for creating naturally beautiful smiles.
Dr. Kerbs graduated in the top of his class from Loma Linda School of Dentistry in 1983. He has aspired to educate himself in state of the art cosmetic as well as functional dentistry. He has spent thousands of hours in additional coursework including two years in orthodontics and attended the highly esteemed Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. The Las Vegas Institute is dedicated to teaching the finer techniques of cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Kerbs uses only the highest quality materials and those that promote optimal biocompatibility. He also reads the latest journals to stay abreast of cutting edge dentistry.
From his childhood, Dr. Kerbs has exhibited artistic abilities in sculpture and painting. Several of Dr. Kerbs teachers throughout school encouraged him to pursue art as a career. Wishing to find a profession that would allow him to help people as well as use his artistic talents, he chose dentistry.
On a personal note, Jeff and Renee Kerbs married in 1979. Both graduated from Loma Linda University, Renee in 1980 with her Registered Dental Hygiene degree, and Jeff in 1983 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. They have two daughters, the oldest graduated from Loma Linda School of Dentistry in dental hygiene in 2005 and the younger is training to be a dental assistant. The family is very active in their church and for recreation enjoys running, snow boarding, backpacking, and scuba diving. In addition, Jeff cycles, swims, and surfs on a regular basis.
Renee is also a native Californian. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree and is an expanded function Dental Hygienist. She is licensed to administer local anesthetic, nitrous oxide sedation and perform soft tissue management (non-surgical therapy for periodontal disease). After graduating from Loma Linda's dental hygiene program Renee worked at the Loma Linda University Medical Center. She had the privilege of working with medically compromised patients and also taught dental hygiene students. Upon Jeff's graduation from the dental program, the couple decided to move to San Diego. They opened their Escondido practice in 1985. The Kerbs enjoy working together and both find personal fulfillment in helping their patients achieve the goal of keeping a healthy beautiful smile for a lifetime.
