Often times, over time, the bite can change due to dental work done over the years, excessive forces placed on the teeth from clenching and grinding, missing teeth, broken teeth, worn down teeth, crowding of the teeth, and muscle asymmetries or imbalances. When the teeth change in these ways it can lead to many problems including pain in the head and neck, pain in the teeth, pain in the joints, cosmetic changes causing the teeth to appear old, and more.

Dr. Kerbs restores a bite uniquely in that he never takes tooth structure away. Dr. Kerbs builds the bite back up with composite bonding, retaining healthy tooth structure, in order to restore the teeth back to a healthy position. Dr. Kerbs restores the mouth as a unit, as a whole. He starts with stabilizing the joint and the muscles, then if needed he will straighten the teeth with either braces or Invisalign or DNA therapy, then he builds the teeth up with tooth colored composite material to restore them back to a healthy level (re-tipping them so to speak) to make them function properly again, this also makes them look young again.

When the teeth become worn down over time the lower third of the face collapses, becomes shorter, this creates more wrinkles and an aged look to the face. This also, places more pressure on the teeth and the muscles become tighter and over worked which creates stress. Dr. Kerbs opens the bite back up to when the teeth were young and longer, this reduces wrinkles and creates better proportions of the face which creates a more youthful and beautiful look.

Many patients come in experiencing broken teeth and they say that it keeps happening, or it’s happened before. We need to look at the big picture. We need to ask why. Why are the teeth breaking, why are the teeth in pain, why is the face in pain, why are root canals needing to be done, why are crowns needing to be done. When we look to the cause, we often times can solve the problem. An analogy that we often use is, if you have 4 flat tires, would you only replace one? We need to look at the mouth as a whole, functioning as a unit. For that matter, we need to look at the head, neck and body as a whole, that is when we will truly start to heal and avoid these recurring dental problems.
